Step 0 — confirm you’re eligible

• WDOMS-listed medical school — Bangladeshi medical colleges do appear in the World Directory of Medical Schools, but listings are per-school, so confirm yours by name at search.wdoms.org
• Full BM&DC registration — provisional registration, then the compulsory one-year internship, then full registration. Keep it current; a lapsed certificate is a needless delay

Step 1 — BM&DC paperwork and MyIntealth (start this first)

Bangladesh’s regulator is the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC), operating under the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council Act 2010. The council was reconstituted in October 2024 — the name, the Act and its role in registration are unchanged, so ignore the rumours that it has been replaced.

You will need two things from it. First, evidence of full registration. Second, a certificate of good standing, which BM&DC issues for practitioners moving abroad. Its published requirements include a signed practitioner declaration, a performance certificate from your last employer, your original MBBS certificate, your NID, and your e-TIN plus a recent income-tax return acknowledgement. Government doctors must apply through their controlling officer. Collect these before you need them.

Then open MyIntealth — ECFMG/Intealth’s primary-source verification platform, which replaced the older EPIC portal. It is a document check, not an exam, and the AMC requires it before assessing you. Intealth writes directly to your medical college and to BM&DC, which is already in its institution list, and the clock is entirely controlled by how fast those institutions reply. This is the single most common timeline-stretcher for South Asian candidates, so open the account and lodge your verification requests before you do anything else. AHPRA revised its minimum scores in April 2026, and the thresholds now differ depending on when you sat. IELTS Academic remains the most familiar option in Dhaka and Chattogram; OET is the clinically-flavoured alternative. Your clinical knowledge base is not the problem. The gaps are almost always Australian context: PBS and eTG-first therapeutics, conservative primary-care reasoning, and the “single best answer” MCQ style, where several options are defensible and only one is best. Common mistakes from Bangladesh

1. Starting MCQ prep before MyIntealth verification — if verification stalls at your college or at BM&DC, a booked exam date is money burnt. Verification first, always.
2. Assuming the clinical exam can be sat regionally — plan for Melbourne, and put visa lead time into the schedule from day one.
3. Letting BM&DC registration lapse — renewing mid-process adds weeks you cannot buy back, and good-standing certificates depend on it.
